Flame Acanthus Anisacanthus quadrifidus Hummingbird Bush is a common name for this plant, which is native to Texas. It is known to attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. As you can tell from the photo at right, it can also attract ants. Dragonflies also like to perch on them. It took several large Flame Acanthus bushes on our property to finally have hummingbirdsregularly visit. We even had a nesting pair of Ruby-throated hummingbirds up in a pine tree, way up, about 50 feet up. in 2014 |
